interesting surf on the bay

Sounds like were on the same page John, seem to have spent all my life and cash "doing up" one thing or another, after spending a fortune (for me) on the buick i swore i'd never do it again and here i am doing it again, aint stopped spending and working on the surf since i got it, thought you might be interested in the old pics, my old triumph T110, my triumph engine in me mates manx norton frame at brands, vauxhall velox, carlos fandango angle box, an old PC cresta i chopped the top of, (someone actually bought that off me before i finished it,) and the cash devouring buick, that f**ker blew up on me two weeks after i got it finished, ford granny, spent £1,400 on a respray on that dam thing,
There's been a few others as well but no pics survived of em,

The 105e vey nice had one before I was old enough to drive had the side valve 1500 in it messed with it for a few happy years.

i take my hat off to the guy.it takes a lot of guts to cut a car up one wrong move and its just a pile of s$$$$ metal.yea ok so he could of bought a four door pick up but wheres the fun in that,thats what makes us insane people different to the rest of you.ive been planning my cut and shut job for a good few months now.but i just havnt had the time.but now im hoping that once the first cut is made that will be it and the projet should see me over the winter ready for next spring.so we should be encouraging people to be different and customise there own vehicles to their own tastes.and if we wanna cut our roofs off and make it a completly different vehicle then i say go for it.ive certainly never been one to have a standard vehicle.especially when your approaching roundabouts and the guy in the lane opposite is being bashed to death by his missus for looking at the truck and not looking where he is going. stein out.

Personally, I wouldn't have the guts to make such a complete arse of it. If one knows ones skills aren't upto the job, don't do it. It's better to do nothing than half a job, and that is half a job.

Yeah! they were solid old things, i stuck a 1600 Xflow cortina engine and box in it, went like stink,
Much prefer older cars John, they were more indivdual than the new ones, their all nice but basicly look the same, wafer thin metal and mostly plastic,
some nice pics there,
At least "altering" a surf you dont have to be quite so concerned with body strenght as it's got a chassi unlike most cars that use the body as strenght,
the old pc cresta felt like it was gonna fold in half when i cut the roof off,

I'm not sure how the roof chop would fair in a down hill roll without an added roll cage.

Around the 2 ton mark bouncing on half a roof might not do the passangers much good.

I nearly rolled mine at Drumclog last time being a tad too ambitious.

Once I lost all traction on all 4 wheels on a muddy hillside and my truck start to slew sideways it wasnt easy keeping it upright especially when putting power down is reverse wasn't an option.

Thanks to all the helpers pushing to keep me upright.

The chop might be alright Iv'e just got my H&S hat on.
