  • Second Battery

Right, a mate is going to sort out the wiring and the charge splitter for me to install a second battery for running the extra lights I will be fitting. But he asked me what amp battery will be going in.

Had a quick look and it appears that most leisure batteries are either 85 or 110 amps. Which would be recommended?

Can the alternator handle a 110 amp second battery? Or should I go with the smaller battery?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Martin
    Which Wychwood would you choose?

Well I've already got twin batteries and a 110Amp in the caravan and the alternator has no problem keeping the van battery topped up when I'm towing, so unless you let it get very badly discharged it should be fine with the larger battery.

Yes your alternator will be fine charging a 110 amp battery i run a 110 amp and a 65 amp on a split charger and my alternator is only a 35 amp one and it runs fine
