No offense to people who work as planning permission or know them, but they can be a little bit daft. As part of Poole Harbour Commissiners we own a small marina on the town side of the quay. A couple of months ago we applied for planning permission to replace 3 pontoon with 3 other types of pontoon which could sink under a small boat and then be refloated to act as a min dry dock to allow customers to mainitain or chack over their boats. The permission was refused, on the gorunds we had to write a report covering the following areas which seemed pointless. They wanted to know the ins and outs of these new pontoons, obviously they didin't read the 6 page information booklet explaining everything you needed to know about these pontoons. They wanted to know how they would have an impact on the immediate local area? How 3 small boats floating on these pontoons is going affect anything or anyone. The way these questions were asked gave the impression we were wanting to build a dry dock for oil tankers and the like. In the end the idea was abandoned as it was too much hassel for our department to cope with at the time.
Oh and if you need someone to do setting out for your extension then I can help out there. Been nearly a year, but it's not too hard to remember which end of the theodolite you look through.

Tony i have six acres and a very similair problem to yourselves. Last night i went on eblag and typed in planning permission. I got one result from a firm in Sufolk i think who sell a brochure for 44p. Its basicly an aplication form to them for planning permission. They say no win no fee, but they do everything for you. They first asess your aplication and if they think they can win they take it on for you. They boast some very good results. Well worth a look.
            Good luck
            Steve.

Cant add anything to whats been said mate but sorry to hear of your problem,
it seems councils go after anyone genuine'ly trying to make a go of something while they turn a blind eye to people who will be a problem for them to deal with, like the guy next to me, came home gone 10 last night and the buggers still grinding, banging two banger racers in the road under halogen lights, out there today spraying and still out there now banging, the council dont want to know, yet you stick an out building up and their all over ya, goddammed pencil pushing dickheads.
