  • Gnarlier than I thought!

Nearly got stuck today on my Dont Pay But Play offroad site (where I work)

Did the usual steep earth bank a few directions, played amongst the trees etc, but there's about 100 yards of very old overgrown deep ruts between a fence and a walled earth bank that I've been eyeing up but staying out of as once you're in, you're committed (and should be!)

I walked it, figured my way in and out, and went for it. The first 30 yards, you have your left wheels ON the wall (only about 18", holding the 10ft high earth bank back) and my right ear 2" from a tall, razor wire topped chain link fence (which Interesting!

I hadn't spotted, during my walk, the overgrown mud covered log (!) part way along this, and due to the funny angle your wheels are at when your left ones are on a wall, and your front right hits a 12" high vertical object, things got abit sticky! After a few goes, I turned the wheel left in order to get more weight on the earth bank, hoping my underbelly was clear of the wall, and booted it. As it leapt onto the log, hit the brake and turn right, then use the momentum to drag the back wheel over!

I've got photos of the other bits of the play area, but not that bit as I was a bit busy (!) Adrenalin is definitely brown!

I'll post photos up when I go home later.

        Sorry for the delay.

Here's some pics of the easy stuff

Its a very good example of why you should fit a side exit exhaust for offroading. I would have killed a standard one ten times over on that hill!

Will try to get pics of 'the trench' as I've named it, though it'll have to be by a 3rd party as once in, I aint getting out of the car!

Stunning! Check the tread imprint ... and it was wet! No loss of traction on that hill. The slides wer going down, more due to my hamfistedness rather than the tyre.

            They're £725 for 4 in 35" x 13.5" on black modular 10" wide wheels

Nah, 33s, but I reckon 35s would have gone on. (Just dont think I'd have been happy with the gearing as it is)

There's a guy at work with a standard Disco who 'doesn't know why I need all the mods just to go offroad' - think I'll see if he fancies following me around one lunchtime
