  • Snorkel mod!

    Hi everyone!
Decided to do this to day Took 3hrs and cost 49 quid, what do ya all reckon?
Ive taken out the filter box and added a Pipercross. Just need 2 bends instead of the rubber bit.
I have a couple of questions if i may..
Will it be ok in the rain?
Would you put a small drain off under the pipe on the wing?
And..why dose the oil pressure read higher now?
God it sounds well, sounds like a dump valve

I'd imagine water will fill the silver thing (filter?) at the top, and rund down inside. Might not be good in the rain!!!

I agree with Apache, I dont think i would trust that in the rain.

No idea why the oil pressure would read higher mate!

You could fit a drain off on the bottom but.... i could be totally wrong, wont that make it able to just suck water in if your that deep you need the snorkel? I cant word it very well but basically, having a hole there could just make your snorkel not work correctly???

How come you went down the homemade route instead of Safari or TJM?

Stainless looks better .......but if it works and you are happy with it , What the hell ..... a safari top or a waterproofed k&n might be better though

Top man!! DIY give ya more satisfaction, you can stand back and think "i did that" (and then deny it when someone asks)
                Stainless or alloy, both shiney
you could put a one way flap valve at the bottom, let water out but not in!
                wot's that top off?

mines currently being fitted, nice bit of stainless pipe running up the A pillar. Not doing it myself though, as don't have to cutting tools. Plus I don't trust myself cutting holes in my truck.

If I get lucky with some muds, I might have to DIY a snorkel up together... looks like a larf...

                        Hi Phil,
Well done mate, I`ll agree with you there about saving for mods. we cant make a locker diy now can we! - just saved yourself £250. I`d change the top for a universal snorkel top as water will get in there somehow! Seen them on ebay for the Landy`s for about £20.
Let me know where you get the lockers from and have you made rocksliders yet?
                        cheers,
                        chris

try spraying the filter with a light oil.that should make it waterproof and filter out more finer particles.
