Towards the wall, our holder rests on two arms, if it hangs towards you, one good tug and the thing spins off the arms and down the John!! The other way round is safer.

The proper way of doing it is to hang away from the wall, with the end folded into a triangle.
Ours is aways against the wall, it stops accidental pulls!
As i said before against the wall, a quick tug and your sorted, a one hand job, over the front (which is the way my mrs puts it, a source of constant punch up's) the whole lot can unravel given a tug

and another thing!! when the perforations dont line up she just cant fathom out that all ya need to do is lift one bit of the double sheet and let it roll back over, they line up then, i always have to do it, annoy's the s**t out of me,
