Hi, I'm trying to tax a BMW which was classified as a write off but I have now got it repaired and MOT'd. I am told it needs another test - what is this?
There are different catorgories of write off, so you need to contact DVLA and find out what catagory it was written off under, and they'll tell you what's needed.

Only cat C or D should be put back on the road .

Having written off my Surf and then buying it back it had to go for a VIC test. This is to confirm the identity of the car and make sure that engine, chassis & body numbers tally up to DVLA records. Cost me £30 and took 10 mins!!!
You do need to have MOT certificate issued after date of repair to proceed.
Check the website and read the documentation before applying.
It's a Cat C, front near side damage - the metal post doesn't look too good either. The repairs have been done, just waiting for a headlamp to arrive for the MOT, then I'll have to get this test thing sorted out.
