*WARNING DUMB QUESTION* But, what does each digit correspond to in dimension terms?

              eg 1=1mm etc?

this is width from a vertical line from the centre of the wheel to outer edge i think, in mm and looking at wheel from front not side on
                    but i could be wrong

reason for me asking is coz lc wheels have an offset of 10 and my std ones are offset 8

its this confusion is the reason for my asking as i want to put 17'' lc wheels on my truck, but would be happy if they stood out a bit, if its the reverse and they are more inset then its a no no as they will foul the inner wing.....

The Landcruiser alloys, the ones that are the same as the 2nd gen Surf are -20 off-set and look good on the Surf 'cos they fill the arches better, i.e. more flush with the edge of the arch. So if they come off a Landcruiser, chances are that they will look good.

i have been looking at a set and stamped on them is offset 10 and my 3 gen wheels are marked offset 8 would i be right in thinking -20 is a measurement from the rear of the wheel and the readings i have are from the outer edge or am i just talking about something that i aint got a clue about, witch would be anything new.
