Kilometres + Miles = ?

Had my surf 3 weeks now and thought it would be good to work out the fuel economy (that old debate!)

Zeroed the clock, filled her up and drove the entire tank...results:

248 Km on 49.3 Litres....= 154 / 11 = Whooah 14 mpg....

Obviously a bit disappointed, I've since found that not only did the dealer change the speedo to miles, they put a converter in to change the odometer so that now reads miles...

Therefore 248m / 11g = 22.5 mpg...much better and inner-city.

However, this presents an interesting point...

The overage "mileage" of the car now reads:

The kilometer value of when it was imported PLUS the number of miles I've done since....pretty weird.

Anyone else has this?

Km`s v Miles

A lot of us get this. Always a good idea to keep your original MOT as this is a form of proof how many miles the vehicle has done.

Same as mine came in with 62000 km's now reading 66000 miles, must be to do with the converter and the dealers SVA peeps not clocking the cars to show true milage
Pity as mine has only really got 42000 miles on it not 66000 :-(

They usually re set the KM's to the right miles on the clock when they fit the dash face if a speedo cable gearbox is fitted.
