  • dare i flip the switch???

I must be getting old.Just got a 3.0lt ssrg (my first which I would still like some one to have a look at ) In my excitment to get it home i forgot to ask what all the switches do. I have two switches under the ignition switch that i dont know what they are for There is 1 long toggle switch and 1 small round switch with a red dot on it under the idle up switch. In my youth i would have just switched them but now i dont want to try them until i know what they do Please advise me without taking the p*##

I think the round one with the light is for rear fog light, the toggle switch maybe for front spots/fog? or electric fan overide? difficult to tell without knowing whats fitted.

1 down. the round one with the led is the rear fog light. Thanks. The toggle switch is a mystery. Opened up the bonnet and found 2 wires that may come from it. They dont look original.1 of them goes to a high performance compact relay with an earth and live on the battery The red has been cut. There are various cut wires under the front bumper. I have a toyota bull bar fitted but the spots are missing. Its a bit of a mess down there.I guess its down to the auto electrician to get rid of the junk wires.Any suggestions on replacement spots? size and where I can get them for the best price?

If it's a toggle switch that looks like a stalk type switch then BEWARE

When I was looking at Surfs I was at a dealers and saw a switch just like this. I had the engine running and decided to see what it did. BANG, and the engine sounded like a right bag of s$$$$ metal. God knows what it was, it was if it was like a PTO engaging when it shouldn't.

We hot footed it out of there pronto.

Its exactly as you describe, toggle switch with a 2" stalk directly under ignition switch. Still not sure what is does but the engine hasn't gone bang..............Yet.

Yeah that's it. About 1.5 to 2 inches long. On the right, below the idle up switch. Don't know what that switch was for, but it fu**ed the engine on that Surf when we flipped it. My advice would be to leave it well alone until you trace what it does.
