thats why u use a copper pad . it wont mess the defroster lines up and it will also clean them trust me m8 . dont scrub it like a mad man but it will get it clean . as for leaving the window open you must leave it CLOSED NOT OPEN . AFTER YOU FINISH YOU MUST ROLL THE WINDOW UP AND DONT ROLL IT DOWN FOR A ABOUT 3 DAYS . thats why i said about fixing the edge with a bit of heat . just warm not too hot . take your time . and CLEANNNNN IT WELL .

Ahh, i got my wires crossed about the open/closed thing.

So, put the film on, wind the window back into the tailgate, close the window so its out of the tailgate and leave it for 3 days?

you can get a copper pad at a general store blimy i sound like a yank lol . its just a copper scouring pad thats all m8 . any help you need just ask . if you was nearer id do it for ya .
