Rod, do as Stein says and just raise the glass to fit the film, much easier than taking the glass out like I did.
Leave it over night to dry and then brush some clear nail varnish around the edge of the film to seal it to the glass, this will prevent it peeling and you can use the window straight away. ( the clear nail varnish dries in minutes)

cheers for the tips gents! BUT.... Either way, Wont it require me either leaving the back door open all evening? No matter if i take the window out or leave it in?

OR....Vince, did you mean... do it with the window down an in the tailgate... an then just give it a few minutes an then put the nail varnish on so i can close the tailgate right away?

Yeah, give the film an hour or two to dry (tailgate down) then apply nail varnish around the edge (especially the bottom edge where the glass lowers into the tailgate)

no nail varnish

nail varnish not needed . open tailgate and trick switches into thing its shut . place a workmate or somethin similar and close the window so it comes outta the tailgate and rests on the workmate put a lint free sheet on the workmate first . be carfull as when windows fully out it can be a bit weak . so dont lean on it lol . ok most important thing is clean clean clean . get a copper scourer and clean . squeegee and clean with loads of water n soap . lay the film on the very wet windoe liner side up and squeege the center line to hold it . use a very very sharp scalpel or fine craft knife and in one go run round the edge cutting off surplus film. ok now move the film up and to one side so it now overlaps the edge by about 3 mil fix it again then go round the edge again with the knife so when you slide it back it leaves a small gap round the edge . i could tell you how to file it off but this way is ok for the back window . when the pattern is cut then remove it and clean the glass again . i cant stress this enough sooo clean . you will apply the film with a solution ofbaby shampoo and water . soak the window . clean and wet the side of your truck that way you can place the film there to peel the liner from it . soak the window the carefully peel the liner from the film but as you do it keep spraying the film as you pull the liner so its soaking wet . try not to touch film with fingers just pinch the top corners then lay the wet film on the wet glass position it and then soak that side as well so your squeege slides over it and dont scratch it . squeege a center line then go out towards the top and bottom . get as much water out as possible . when done if you have a heat gun then lift the tailgate a bit and gently heat the edge of the glass from outside while squugeing the edge this seals the film . after a while nail varnish messes up and this is the proffesional way of doing it . dont put window down for about 3 days to allow it to cure. i wouldnt expect a proffesional job with the film you have bought as its not of good quality . any help you want give me a call . if you wanna leave it and drive this way one day il do it for ya in propper film gratis . good luck its not as easy as it looks but its a flat window so no shrinking the film . let me know how u got on

thats why u use a copper pad . it wont mess the defroster lines up and it will also clean them trust me m8 . dont scrub it like a mad man but it will get it clean . as for leaving the window open you must leave it CLOSED NOT OPEN . AFTER YOU FINISH YOU MUST ROLL THE WINDOW UP AND DONT ROLL IT DOWN FOR A ABOUT 3 DAYS . thats why i said about fixing the edge with a bit of heat . just warm not too hot . take your time . and CLEANNNNN IT WELL .
