Richard, was anything touched/removed/adjusted under the bonnet when the exhaust was fitted?

Coincidence, my truck broke the day i had my powerflow exhaust fitted last year. Wasn't the same as yours though, i lost reverse and neutral, thing is i was parked nose in against a wall with a trailer on when it did it.

However, i had something similar to what you describe after my last offroad session, rac reckoned it was to do with the EGR valve or throttle buterflies sticking. Cleared itself after a couple of hours.

I'm thinking Throttle Position Sensor. Does it rev freely in park or neutral, but dies when in drive?

sometimes it was ok then it would take ages for the revs to build up.This all happened a couple of hours after the zaust was fitted. It had been running quite lumpy on tickover for about a week now and if left to long it would just cut out after the revs rise and drop for a min or so

one possibility is that when they made your exhaust they did a lot of the welding with it in place on the truck. If they did not disconnected the battery or fit a spike protector onto the batteries before doing the welding then the current can have damaged the electrical system (mainly the ecu), or as stated the truck has gone into safe mode when the ecu detected power spikes from the welding.
as already said, try disconnecting the batteries for a few minutes then reconnecting and see what happens. Also have a word with the place that did the exhaust and see if they did disconnect the system before welding.

What percentage veg-oil are you using? Could be gummed up injectors.

Just started the truck up and got it out on the road and it ran ok.It was a bit lumpy for a bit but seemed to get worse. It was starting to splutter a bit and push out puffs of black smoke so i will do the filter and fill it with atf or redex and give it a good blast down the A30 and see what it runs like then.If that don't work then i may well go for the uprated injectors from DisielBob is it from the forum

sounds the same as mine rich had to do two filter changes fillled with injector cleaner before it cleared
Only Toyota can get you out of shite

just ordered new filters so i will see how that goes anyway.I have been thinking about getting the injectors sorted for a while now so i may just tell Mandy a little white lie and say they're past it.
