Removing aircon

Hi Folks,
What are the pro`s and con`s of removing the aircon system? Is there any off-roading advantage. Mine works fine but never seem to use it and now the compressor is making a bearing/belt noise all the time.

I removed mine as it did not get used much and when I did use it the loading on engine was quite high (2.0 petrol) . Also when I changed the engine to 2.2 it was in the way so removed it . More air gets to the radiator now .

Mine never worked, and the underslung condensor kept getting full of mud, and it weighs a tonne!

So I took it out, more air going underneath, space in the engine bay for servicing etc, and less weight (although not noticable)..

Took about an hour to take out.

If you take it out and replace the guard with a bash plate of some kind it'll give you better approach angles as well.

Gets clogged with mud and engine overheats quicker.

If anyone takes thiers out, I would like to buy the bottom belt tensioner that the pully is attached.

Never even thought about taking it out. It works fine and is great in hot weather. If it broke and was to be expensive to repair maybe I would consider removing it. but until then I will leave it alone.

Mine's not got a belt on it anymore. After SRTTS I'll try to remember to get the pulley of for you.

Thanks for all the replies, folks. Can anybody give a simple step by step removal procedure. I have a 3 litre and cant see a condensor under the rad.?
