Gday, this is my first time in the forum. I'm an Aussie looking to buy a 1993 3.0L Diesel surf. I pretty much know the rig I want I just don't know if I should buy a manual or auto. I've always had manuals and would prefer one. They just seem to be in short supply in this model. So guys whats the deal? Do the auto's cut the mustard?

Welcome to the forum Charlie Tonyn replied to someone else with this answer which may give you some idea
Autos are easier, less effort to drive, manuals are more 'drivable' the only difference offroad is a manual will be more controllable down slippery hills, as its hard to guess the engine braking/wheels slipping effect with an Auto.
3.0lt motor works well with the Autobox, still feels lively with the extra power, I think the 2.4 is more fun with a manual.(\__/)

there are others as well, its a well debated discussion, never been a winner or loser, comes down to personal choice and experiances.

so where's the other thread? That's just a link to the forum homepage, or was that a deliberate joke lol.
Anyway so what is the rough guide of manual:auto quantities it does at first glance seem the autos far outnumber the manual boxes but just wondered how clear cut this was?
