  • Bugger the money pit strikes again

I'm sure i am cursed at the mo ......................

Rear wheel bearing has gone leaking diff oil and draged in some sh1t so better do both

That takes the total this year up to

    A head gas sniffer kit
    a alternator X2
    repaired a starter motor
    a rear diff oil seal
    a front wheel bearing
    a leaking injector pump
    a water pump
    a cambelt
    a steering idler
    a uj
    5x tyres
now both rear bearings and new diff oil

And it needs a oil change And i think i need to strip and clean the starter motor again

It's a sodding Money Pit at the mo

Stormy ......sorry cant do RTTS as this is the final nail

When i had my 300tdi disco ES, The service history was one hell of a read!!!

Over £11,000 spent on repairs from 1996-2006, i had it for a month, When i got rid of it, it would crunch going into 2nd gear!

So your spot on! Land rovers are worse for repairs.

i just wish i knew how to diagnose things, so i knew what was wrong.

I dont wish to rub it in mate but just read your thread and i hope you get get it sorted it,s not nice when things keep going wrong but i have had my surf for 4 years now and the only thing that has gone was an oil seal on the rear axle.I have never known a car you can give so much abuse to and it just dont brake maybe it,s just the age diffrence or a model change from 2nd to 3rd gen or am i just a lucky $$$$$$$

                          It's offroading that gets them.

Just done this last week for the MOT

Removed Head lights to wash the mud out
                          Removed one hub, regreassed bearings.
                          Tightened both front wheels bearings
                          New Centre Prop Bearing
                          New Differential flange Seal
                          New Steering Idler
New Front hub Inner Bronze bush
                          New Exhaust

Done in the last few months, on top of the normal oil / Filter changes (engine, diffs gearbox)
                          new CV boots one side
Removed Alternator for a strip down and clean.
                          New Anti roll bar Kit
                          New Shocks all round.

                          Edit to add

                          New water pump
                          New cambelt
                          I'm sure there is more

Still to do (but not for the MOT)
                          CV boots other side.
Front hub Inner Bronze bush other side

I would have to agree having just sold my moly-coddled D90 which cost me £3k+ on repairs last year, mostly due to poor design
