  • Al-Ko Stabiliser

Has anybody with a rear mounted spare wheel ever used an Al-Ko stabiliser? If so is there a problem that can occur?

I've just been browsing the towsure catalogue and noticed that they are selling a 4x4 adapter handle!

    Any info welcome!

    Cheers

    Colin.

Does the spare really get in the way that much?

I better take the spare off before i pick the van up then!

      Cheers

      Colin.

        yeah
i havent got a al.ko but my hand brake catches the tyre, on the old 2 gen it was clear so the spare must be lower on a 3 gen, dont want to lower tow ball as van is level at the mo,

read in a mag about clearance issues on the al ko and 4x4's

                    Which Alko stabiliser ?

I've been using an AKS 1300 with no problems - as a point of interest the static attitude of a hitched up SINGLE AXLE van should be slightly nose down ......

If you've got one of the newer Alko hitches it may be easier to hitch up with the wheel carrier 'open' and close it when you've hitched up. I'd be surprised if there were clearance problems unless your hitch is too high - I seem to recall that the recommended hitch height is around 420mm to the centre of the towball (My towball sits around 450mm without the van on but I'm a bit saggy so when it's hitched it drops down a bit)

Life is too important to take seriously !

Ive got the ALKO 2003 Stabilser. I open wheel carrier hitch up then close it again without any trouble.
