Why all of a sudden does my computer do a disc check, i have four drives, every time i switch on. It didn't do it before and there are no problems. How do i switch it off or stop it doing it?

i cant really help you there m8 but ive had that a few times if ive been to certain sites or had a power cut or even not closed down a programme or computer correctly its like a file moves n your computer picks it up n puts it back or removes something that might have been added from a site you dont know about.
thats all i can say m8 but im sure a few on here will give you the info

When you say you have 4 drives do you mean 4 hard drives or hard drive, cdrom drive, dvd rom drive, dvd/rw drive etc? If you do have 4 hard drives try disabling the slave drives and then turning the computer on. If it does a disk check on your main hard drive C: Let it finish and the reboot it. If it does a check again you may have bad sectors on the C: drive. If it boots okay try enabling the other drives one at a time to find out the defective drive.

Yep. Like Marky said, run scandisk and that should isolate the bad sectors allowing for a trouble free boot up.

Did as you suggested and computer is fine now. By 4 drives i mean i have two large hard discs which now give me c, f, g and h drives. Ive got more memory than microsoft. Don't ask me why.

Also use DEFRAGMENT to help clean your files up.

this happened to me once. i just let it do its job. i had 3 sata drives.
