it gives it a slight rainbow effect i think.im not really up on modern paints theres so much you can do nowadays.

Adding pearl/mica to the lacquer doesn't work too well cos you need to be concentrating on the lacquer finish so you lose control of the distribution of the mica, this means the end result is a bit stripey or patchy. Keep it in the basecoat where you have control over the effect then then it all comes to life when you lacquer it! 3 stage gives the best effect, groundcoat/mica/lacquer.
