Many thanks to you all for your donations, very much appreciated
Our original hosting company started off cheap, got so much bandwith and download for free. Then traffic built up and our download limit got used by about the 10th of each month and we got charged 50p a meg therafter. This resulted in monthly bills between £180 & £230 per month, far more than what was coming in from subs etc.
We then switched to the last company, started off good with free traffic and a bit more download GB. Monthly bills within a couple of quid or so were pretty much covered by subs etc. Then they just stopped the free traffic and the monthly bills have risen to around £80 per month since Oct last year, with July's bill being a whopping £252 on its own.
Have now sourced another hosting company, that on the face of things seems really good. Lots more traffic and download GB and cheaper, fingers crossed it all goes well.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

Nigel, are there any plans to address the subscription issue?
I know it's not the point, but with so many members, £250pm should be affordable. It's very unfair that the admins should have to fund any excess whilst people still have full and free access to the site.
I know it's been said before, but how about a 'read but no posting' basic membership for free, but you must pay your subs before you are allowed to post.
This would kill two birds with one stone. First and foremost, no more spam! and secondly, healthy bank account to pay for maintainance and a holiday in the Carribbean
The payment system would have to be improved to take the onus off yourself - say paypal & credit card automatic subscription much like the ... ermmm... adult oriented sites out there, but given the subs that would be coming in, I'm sure it would be affordable. Also, for the 'read only' members, a more accessible FAQ / search function so 'drop in' users could find the info they need without posting questions.
I'm absolutely sure that the 'drop ins' would use the site a few times, see how useful it is and how much fun can be had, and stump up their subs no questions asked! It really is worth a tenner a year, and everyone who comes here can afford 20p a week!!!
Just a few suggestions whilst the new site is being built, and cheers for all the hard work. Let us know if anyone here can do anything to help.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

I know the forum has a lot of members but its down to the same few who use it day to day. If only 30% of registered users paid the subs it would be self funding, but its not the case.
As said will take a look at some of the suggestions and see what can be done.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.
