Engine oil???

Hi all, I've done a search but can't find an answer, can some one please tell what type/grade of engine oil should be used in a '93 2.4 surf.

I've probably missed it in my search.

10/40 semi synthetic is what everybody uses I'm pretty sure.

While on the topic, how much does it take to re fill when changin the oil???

I think it's about 6.5 litres including the filter.

i always use 7l and that seems about right. i do 6l straight off which takes it to bottom of dipstick after letting it tickover shortly then put another litre in and usually seems the right amount.

No answer to Hiroler's question yet! Surely someone must have an opinion.

I would like the same question answered and ,also, can you mix semi-synth with full synth? If not, for what reason?

Now im not sure... But i dont think mixing oils is wise... personally i wouldnt bother doing it. Theres no real reason for mixing. its not a long job to do a filter an oil change if the wrong stuff is in the engine.

Honestly cant remember why but i know my uncles said its a bad idea an as far as anything automotive is concerned he knows the bl**dy lot

i use 15w40, i get it free from work, if it is good enough for all our machinery including £90,000 caterpillar trucks then its good enough for my £1250 4runner

If you are changing your oil might as well do you filter as well mate. 7 litres of 10/40 in mine. Stick 5 in then check the dipstick before adding the rest.
