Front Diff Problem

Any one know how much play should be in that thing that looks like a wheel hub that comes out of the front diff. Its the bit the driveshaft bolts to. I have had a rattle from under the front so I changed both the drive shafts along with the ball joints. When changing the drivers one I noticed quite a lot of play in that hub thing and wondered if I now need a new diff. The rattle is still there and also wondered if this could explode or something when I am driving it.

Play in this is normal and the general opinion is that if the seal ain't leaking then leave it be. There is a bearing in there so if it gets worse then it may be time to have a look.
