  • MIG welders..

I am mooching about for a mig welder.... anyone recommend a good one to go for, or a good place to get one without getting robbed? I'm thinking not a gasless one and maybe something like this http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...iy-mig-welders
    it's in me shed, mate.

I got a gas/gasless Cebora mig (same as Snapon) . I want to upgrade when possible and spoke to Jon (Jotto) about it . He recommends to buy the best you can afford which is fitted with a 'Euro' type torch . This means you can replace the handle and tube assembley from machine by undoing it with a couple of twists . Also I have had to repair the trigger on my mig a few times as they are not very good quality and overheat with constant use .

I bought a clarke 150 mig it did me for years when I started out and is probably still going in the thieving hands of the guy who nicked it. Anyway now on a Sealey 180 industrial with Argoshield bottle ( i do a lot of welding).

If you go to Machine Mart they do good deals.

      Good luck

      Cheers JB

Might not be, remember yon A Bar, it only cost me a tenner to get that all the way from Warwickshire to Jockland. Get the weight of it and check out some couriers. eg, I can get 20 kilos from Peterborough to Edinburgh by Parcelforce 48 for £22. I know a Surftrain is even cheaper ( well free really) and obviously the most attractive option to the more careful members, but If youve really got the urge to start burning holes in metal, waiting for a train might just be too long a wait.

Apparently its 28 kgs... If we can get a surf train rolling, I can be remarkably patient...
