  • Calling all web folder geeks!

OK - I've got a site hosted with EasySpace and have jut finished a rework of the whole thing and put it in a folder under the html folder on the server, tested it all and all links work (bar one, but that's an issue with the company hosting my shop........ )

Now, I want to copy the folders, subfolders and files from my test directory to the main site folder, and delete all the old stuff I don't need - but I can't copy cos I keep being told 'access denied' ......

I'm confused - how can I bin all the old stuff and just copy files????? Why is this so hard????

Using ftp? Use the chmod settings in the ftp client. You want at least rw perms.

That doesn't have a proper ftp client, does it? It just acts as a ftp browser, not a full client.

Edit: I've got Filezilla here. You'll be better off using that:

I'll agree with Matt, Filezilla is a good one to use.. I use it on my site all the time.

I'm assuming they are using Windoze servers, so the CHMOD command isn't being recognised.....

There should still be a way of setting the directory attributes. I'll have a peek. Can't remember offhand what the options are.

Connect to the ftp server, then right click on the folder that's giving you the access denied messages. Select 'file attributes', and change the rwx permissions there.

What layout do you have on the directories, with regards to the root webdir? Can you upload a test text file to the destination dir, or is it blocking write access completely? Is it just saying access denied, or giving you more explanatory messages?
