Steering rack

Just been to FrogIsland and they reckon my steering rack may be on the way out, anyone know how long it takes to change one on a 3rd Gen? How difficult is it?

I've NEVER heard of a steering rack failing on any surf, on any of the forums, so I'd get a second opinion before spending large.........

STEERING RACK = 3RD GEN

The symptoms are very vague steering, wildly throwing to the side in ruts, generally bad on bumpy roads etc, truck seems to go everywhere, even though steering wheel is not moved etc


Are FrogIsland ok or are they cowboys??

No idea regarding your problem, but can't say as I can ever remember someone saying anything untowards regarding Frogs Island.

It maybe the RUBBER BUSH that holds the rack in place. Mines worn & i get these symptons.
