Why Can't I get on the Home page?

When I click on my "Favourites" for this site it dosn;t work! I have to search to get on and it has been like this for weeks.
If try to click on my link in my Favourites an error message comes up saying somthing like, "Major upgrade work being done to the site" or somthing like that?

its all to do with when the site went down last time
