Ok, so whats wrong here???? i would have thought the thermostat would have been in here but it aint. Am i looking in the right place??? In the Haynes its different, it shows 3 bolts and facing up not side ways. This is getting very confusing

Phil on the 3l the thermostat is on the left hand side of the engine about half way down near the front.You can do with a 10mm deep socket to be able to get in there easy tho

Yep, follow the bottom hose from the rad, the thermostat housing is on the end.
Yep it is. Decided to get everything done, then fit the new rad when i get it. Sometime to morrow. Then the fun starts, ie bleeding up. Not looking forward to that.
If you look behind the rubber hose in the right middle of the picture, you can see a bolt head. This is the top bolt in the thermostat housing, that's where it is.

i done mine ok.once everything was connected just filled up with coolant and started her up and kept topping up when needed.Took her for a run then let cool down and checked again and topped up again and checked again the following day.Make sure the heaters are set to hot tho

If you pour the coolant in slowly, (I always use a thin necked funnel), then your chances of getting any large airlocks are minimal. It's chucking the coolant in which usually creates the airlocks. Knackering on the arms, but works wonders.
