Spare Tyre/Handy Shelf

Has anyone noticed how handy the rear mounted spare tyre is as a temporary shelf. So far I have lost one chamois leather, broken a camera and lost a 3/8 antenna stud mount C/W 4M lead.
I wonder how much aggro it would be to put the spare underneath again.

It's only a hobby!

less hassle than to go the other way round, you'll probably pick a spare wheel carrier up at the scrapyard, although they do look better on the back, looks a bit empty without it
