Real dumb question

I am trying to buy Ht leads for my other halfs car its a rover 214 how do I find out if it's a 16 Valve or 8V engine??

Any help would be great

Yep,

According to this it's an 8v

put the reg number through an online insurance quote sometimes they come up with engine details ie (8V or 16V)

As a general rule of thumb - twin cam engines are 16v (with a few exceptions) but single cam will be 8v.

most rover's between 1989 G reg & 1996 N reg were 16 valve K series enginse.
best way to tell is pop the bonnet & look at the valve cover on top of the engine.
it should be black with rib's & say rover twin cam 16valve.

usually manufacturers boast about the 16v. but sometimes ive seen them boast about 8v. if only the v was on the other side of the number!
