It 's possible that it might leak as it is set up in the pic as it only has the "fairweather" fly sheet on - but it comes with an optional "Full" flysheet for use in wetter countries. With that on it should be as waterproof as any other tent (those mesh windows also have zip up covers)!
In the instructions it does tell you to ensure correct fit, and to waterproof the seams like most tents. We'll see when we use it for real in a couple of weeks time.
Its also designed specifically for the 2nd gen surf so the fit round the back of the truck is good, esp. improtant to us as the dogs must not be able to get out!
Cool, but what exactly is the point of it - is it so you sleep in car & dogs in tent, or dogs in car & you in tent, or so you can get your luggage from car to tent in bad weather without getting it wet

The dogs sleep in the truck. (mine do) Also, the tent 'tube' that goes around the rear of the truck can be removed, the opening zipped up and you can drive off and leave the tent free standing.
I've had the same tent for three years now, no leaks, but it is cold at night, needs an inner skin really for our climate.
