does anyone know why my new surf comes under the new band g super tax, is it because it has just been registered for the first time in the uk
and is it contestible????
john
Personally I would contest it because it's a 97 vehicle for which there is no CO2 data on file. Looks like someone at VOSA just decided they didn't like 4*4's and wanted to punish you.
the dealer had arranged all the legal stuff so i wasnt involved, havent got the v5 yet but will go to local dvla office when i get it
£165 for 6 months is steep

Someone has screwed up John. I'm guessing the dealer put the import date in the manufacture box on the form.
It should be the same tax bracket as the 2nd genners.
i bet you will be finding nooks and cranies full of mud for months to come.
before i sold my old surf i spent hours under neath it, its amazing where all the mud gets into.
with the new one being a fresh import and being like new i am very reluctant to add mud to it. i have polished it three times already, you should see the engine bay, it impressive
btw 3.0 is the way to go coz it goes......

Nah, 4 cam, 32 valve, 4.0 litre V8 is the way forwards.
good point...
but i have blown a tank of fuel and it worked out at 31 mpg, i guess that will fall a bit over the next few tank fulls but its a dam better reading than the old one.
had a go in a 3.4 24 valve petrol that was fun

I dont think it should be in band G. I would contest it . As far as I am aware any vehicle pre 2001 does not come into this Band. Mine certainly doesn't.
