  • The lift is done....

Well i finally got round to lifting my truck. A 2" body lift kit supplied by Jotto. I started at 11 this morning and finished a little after 5. Not bad seeing as i have never done one before and i did it alone with a mega hangover. My m8 was supposed to give me a hand but he didn't get in till 6 this morning (casino) a little worse for wear and lighter in wallet. Anyway things didn't go too bad and the end result is more impressive than i had invisaged. The only problem i came across was trying to get the hi/lo shift into lo, so removed centre console and took an angle grinder to it, no probs now. All thats left to do now is to alter brackets for front bars and refit the monster horns and spots. A couple of hours should wipe that up tomorrow. Heres a few pics, i'll get some better ones tomorrow when i can get out in the open.

Well done mate! looking good. After i did my suspension lift i was finding it hard to really notice what i'd done!

because i had it jacked up in the air so high working on it as soon as it came back down i was wondering where my extra 50mm had gone!

Wasnt untill another surf (standard) parked behind me at beaulieu that i saw the difference! mine looked huge especially with my larger tyres on! I was well chuffed with the result!

All in all mine was about 4" higher then the standard surf! needless to say im smitten with my truck more so now

I think it's quite noticable especially when gettin out of the truck as yesterday when i did for the first time i nearly hit the floor like a lead brick, expecting my foot to touch down a little sooner than it did. I want to go higher with the suspension so am waiting for coil spacers from TonyN. Eventually i want to lift the suspension and put 33s on. What tyres you got on and do you hve a pic?

Im running 265/75/16 which comes out at about 32"

I dont have any pics of it lifted yet for some reason

Fitting the coil spacers was nice and easy! nothing too difficult with it, are you going to change the shocks or remain on standards?

I still cant make up my mind weather to fit another 2" via suspension or body so i dont want to fork out £140 for a set of es9000 +2" to find i shoud've gone for +4"

This is one of the reasons i went for the 2" body lift first, to see how much difference 2" makes (so to speak) Without it costing a fortune. I think its quite a difference and with suspension theres other fators like diff, ball joint and cv stress. Next i am having a set of coil spacers, wind up torsion bars and then look at the suspension. I ordered an air ride (coil rite) suspension from U.S. but they emailed me, after i had calculated post and paid, to say they don't ship overseas, only to Canada, bummer. So i will try ad source a kit a little closer to home.
I am also looking into getting brackets fabricated for my rear axle for use with air bags. I already have the air tank fitted and working for the horns so shouldn't be too big a job me thinks.
