  • Its here, lets start making cool stuff.....

My JD2 bender finally arrived, its cool.

Lovely bends, on the thinnest of tube, no kinks, flattened bits or dents. Perfect for making junk for the truck.

Got 1" and 2" dies at the mo, (the dies arn't cheap! so didn't go nuts)

This is the 1" die and bit of junk tube I had lying around, 180 deg, first go!

Need to order some 2" tube next week, and get cracking on the Bullets major bits, and see how people like the stuff.

Given all the guff about bull bars it looks like you might be making lots of "metalwork to pattern"

        Yup.

To be honest, It's not a big problem, suppliers just need some 'for offroad use only' stickers and away you go. You'd be suprised how much offroad equipment you buy actually has 'not legal for road use' in the small print.

Not as pricey as the hydraulic attachment to replace the handle I'm gonna buy in a while (all being well, and I make some stuff people want to buy.....)

But yeah, its dear, the indivdiual dies are as expensive as the bender itself, but worth it not have to wrestle with the $$$$py pipe bender I was trying to use, and far better bends.

That's F***in awesome, all you need now is lots of orders to pay for it. I'm off to put my thinking head on, this could cost me more than you

nice toy! have you heard of Huth? i had a few machines of theirs in my old job. we used pipe from 1.5" up to 2.5" inlcuding 1.75, 2", 2.25. the dies are heavy. also we had a solid bar bender, we used 8mm 10mm and 12mm. im a good bender as it were
only thing with the hydraulic huth was that one day the shaft snapped off one side of the machine whilst under load. all i heard was two bangs within tenths of seconds apart. the first was it breaking, the 2nd was it hiting the post of the ramp. luckily it was in just a position to save the car on it

another thing, the huth couldnt handle thin wall thickness pipe. it just creased it. it did help by gradually adjusting the pressure but less than 2mm was a mission to bend.

Hi Tony, christ I am jealous as hell!

Can you look at this thread

                    http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=92914

Can you quote me a price to make the steel frame in 1'' pipe, the rest pretty much a copy of what he's done (for the 1st Gen) - you can size it on your 1st Gen!!!!!

I'll make the canvas roof etc.

                    Thanks

Well I'm afraid that the best I can do to help is Hull - I may be going up there early July. Don't know if we can get a surf train sorted by then?
