I gotta ask, for I've been wondering for a while, what is the point of lifts like that? Departure angle obviously, and allowance for larger tyres, but the axles/diff stays at the same height, other than the height difference achieved with larger tyres, so what, honestly, is the point?

Yup. I know that one is an excessive example, but I mean even with the more standard lifts? Surely the gains in departure angles and ground clearances with larger tyres and such are only marginally better?

Larger wheels roll over obstacles easier, give more clearance to the axles and, most importantly, look well 'ard!

There's only so much the standard drivetrain can take with those huge tyres too!
I'd still have it though, but the seats don't go back far enough for me in the pick-up.
