  • Nice Rack !!

Now I have your attention, I will get to the real point of the Thread.

Does anyone know of a bicycle rack that can be fitted to the back of a 2nd Gen Surf with a rear mounted spare?

I want to avoid getting a roof rack.

    Cheers

    afternnon m8

A m8 of mine witha 2nd gen got one that was meant for a discovery. It is fitted between the spare mounting bracket & held on with the wheel.

Cost him £48.00 and got it on line from Paddy Hopkirk - He fits 2 full size mountain bikes and 1 kiddies bike, no probs. he seems to think he's since seen them in halfrauds

Down side is that he has to have a trailer board as the frames/wheels cover the lights & number plate (honest officer)

    hope this helps

Theres a few items like that in the formula 4x4 catalogue

One is £39.90 an well looks a bit tacky, Its lots of bars that bolt together on the rear wheel

One is £59.90 and that is a solid bar version

However if you dont have a rear slung spare you can get a towball version for £49.90

All of these seem to carry 2 bikes but the towball one is suitable for 3

There are of course other places to source these items from and many other similar items about but in prinicipal they all do the same

I got mine off ebay, but don't use it now

It straps to the spare wheel when used.
