Just completed my first 'mainland' trip in my surf - a 430 mile round trip from the Isle of Wight to Alton Towers.

I was a little bit worried about how she would perform on the motorway but there was no need. I used half a tank going up and the same coming back - and I wasn't exactly taking it easy!

Took me a couple of hours to get all the dead flies off last night though

I keep an eye on my mpg. After giving the surf a small service I have gone from getting 30mpg to 40mpg. Now I don't believe the second figure and am currently trying to suss out whats going on.

on a run I can get 300 miles out of one tank. Although can get more after a full service.

On a run can get about 350 miles on a full tank, best I ever got was 365 on a run down to the "outlaws" in Crowborough, the worst was 180, but that was towing a twin axle trailer with a surf on the back!!

I'd guess he filled the tank before leaving and then again before the return trip. First half of tank (according to gauge) always lasts longer than the second half.

350 miles on a full tank 65l(?) gives a mpg of - 39.2mpg

Biggest tank is 73l which is a mpg of- 34.9mpg

Not bad at all.

My 40mpg comes from a 3/4 of a tank trip at a steady 60 with aircon on.

yeah, I get 200 from a full tank (on bio fuel) but 130 of that is from the 'top' half of the tank on the guage.

So, more importantly, how many litres did you put in?
