  • Now I have been daft

Got stuck in my Landcruiser and this time it was a dream one, no photos because I forgot in the moment.

I drove up a very steep sandy bank and never engaged the diff locks, never made it up so shifted into reverse and rolled backwards, the exhaust end digs into soil at the base of the hill and before I know what’s going on it's at nearly 90o to the base of the LC and the engine stalls because the gases cannot get out.

So I'm impaled with the LC front still on the slope

Managed to get the LC going for just long enough to move forward a little, and then bent the exhaust the best I could up again and then engaged the diff locks and drove forward up and over the bank

Fixed the damage now, ish (Hammer, saw and trolly jack)

LOL lesson learned! sounds like it was fun though. lucky you did not have to get pulled out by another make or 4x4 or you would never hear the end of it!

I was alone, just testing new shocks, springs + muds, but could of called up local help if required.

Last time I was "just testing" I got stuck as well that time in my Hilux, 4WD never engaged and I was very stuck. (Lesson learnt, make sure its blooming working "before" making that "simple" move)

Phoned my "Help" that time who made sure he brought all his mates to take the mickey.

Serves me right for getting a little bit cocky

          I got

Should have bought a proper 4WD instead of that thing etc.

Stupid Land Rover owners, I tell you!

At least they where fat enough to get in the back and get that rear wheel on the ground and I backed out.

IOTY has to be a outstanding event and include a sentance in the cellar

I wonder if Koi would make the nominations for that one a sticky...

Just so you can all laugh, I had to cut 8" off the end of the exhaust as it was very low, even after trying to straighten it.

and the exhaust maybe far from a free flow now. although it seems to be running fine

                    Don't laugh too much.

How's your exhaust after the other day's wall/exhaust interface moment??
