Hi All recently found this site & I like it.
Bought myself a '91 2.4TD SSR about 6 months ago. Unfortunately its spend the last month in a mates garage. Engine cut out twice in a day on the motorway so got him to look at it. Was running like a bag of hammers.
Its been a nightmare!!!
Replaced the injectors first to find there was hugh back pressure. And so the fun started. Stripped the engine to find a piston chewed to hell & one that was cracked in 3 places.
So to cut a long story short we replaced, 4 pistons & linings, injectors, cylinder head, valves & water pump. As well as the usual rad cap & termo.
Came to the conclussion that the previous owner bodged the engine to get rid of it. It was full of silicon & we took 1/2lb of filings out the bottom.
Well its back on the run & i loving it. A little underpowered but ideal for a days fishing down the beach. Saves a lot of walking.
Looking forward to "surfing" the site & picking up some tips & hints.
