I'm thinking about buying a 3Gen surf and understand some rules for SVA Registation however have been looking on DVLA site for any "loopholes" Has anyone found any? The only thing I can find is to register it as an ambulance or camper and then once the vehicle is registered change its class to PLG. Is this possible? Has anyone tried it before? Any info gratefully received.

    Sva

Ther are other loopholes of a type which will allow you to put the car thru a standard SVA instead of an ESVA.

However save yourself the bother and buy mine (for sale forum).

It has just gone thru the SVA and is awaiting a new owner.

there is a website about putting it through as a camper, but i can't remember the name of it... i'll have a think

but basically all you do is take out the back seats and put in a matress and a cooker... mine's registered as a camper.

Thanks for your post, can you now change your (classification)? to PLG or is it registered as a camper forever? does it matter?

just as a hilux surf... they didn't ask what it was registered as... it was already registered when i bought it. i think it's quite a common loophole.

              on the logbook it says

              make - toyota surf

model/type - 2 axle rigid body motor caravan

              taxation class - PLG

                Why not?

Since loads of other people have the same car, what makes you think that your car won't pass the SVA test?

ie why not just get it to pass as it is?

Thanks Matt & Rob for your reply's but Rob has got a good point, why can't I register it as it is. I was just going on advice to try to sidestep the SVA. If it is in a safe condition and any mods required carried out it should be OK. Got to find out what mods are required now. Time for a new thread. Thanks again.
