air con compressor

just had a new compressor fitted i havent had it gased up yet the problem is that when i press the a/c switch in the car the wheel doesnt do anything is there some sort of pressure switch in there that would tell it not to kick in unless there was gas in it or could it be some other problem .cheers

If you just want to check if the clutch on the new compressor is working the just put a supply from the battery positive to the terminal on the compressor to see if it locks up and runs with the engine running, but don't do it for to long as you may cause damage with no gas in the system.
