  • The dreaded smoke no more

Hi All well after being off the road that's siting in my drive not mud plugging for best part of a year I have finally got the old girl back on the road thanks to Stevo in Stock port, A very big thanks to Stevo for the work which I have to say is brilliant.

Anyways It's great to be back I drove at 45mph all way home to West Highlands!!!!

Just changing oil tomorrow for 15/40 semi synth. and new filter.

I wonder how many smoke problems are actually down to bad injectors.

I can now say that all that waste of cash on injector cleaning fluid, changing everything blocking off valves etc etc was down to the injectors.

BUT BY TIME I'D CHANGED THEM IT WAS TOO LATE !!!!!!!!
PISTON WASHED ON NO 1 DUE TO KNACKERED INJECTOR.

If anyone's got problems with smoke I'd recommend get the injectors checked and then get compression tested before you knacker your engine.

Co's all the advice in the world doesnt help if that happens and your driving
whilst puffing smoke you "could" be in trouble.

I have to say that mine didn't smoke too much so I put up with it until

She lost power and then died.

Hope this saves some other poor sod.

    Cheers

    John

PS I didn't have time to stop over on way home as planned something came up so I couldn't have the intended night out another time soon I hope. But not for major engine rebuilds.

          Hi Auld Nick

There are several garages here none could touch putting a new engine in for Stevo's price.

He also did the head a couple of years back.

I rebuilt an engine for diesel on an escort a couple of years ago.

Pistons and all were lying around the garage floor ,kids dragging bikes in and out kicking bits out of plastic tubs. The midgies covering everything before I put it back between the rain, dust,, kids naw I'd rather get these things done and pay a wee bit extra from now until I build a bigger garage.

The cost of the parts for the car engine cost about £800s. By doing it myself 1 mistake or bit of grit and I'm back to square 1, so believe me getting it done by the gent in Stock-port was the right thing for me.

He is completely trust worthy I have a 60 mile round trip for bread and milk so there's not a great deal of places to take the truck into here travelling to Glasgow or Stock-ports only an extra 3 hours each way.

          Cheers mate

PS If you know of an engine rebuild/replacement for Surfs nearer to home who could give you an as new engine (not talking about replacing rings ) but talking whole re bore etc etc etc for £1250 I will consider the distance but till then don't mind travelling.

He gives a full 24,000 mile warranty.
