PC problem

Hi folks
my cd rom drive randomly opens even when the drive is in use which is annoying when playing games etc.Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this.The system is quite old (1999)running Windows ME ,Toshiba cd/dvd rom drive with DMA enabled.

its prob not reading properly mate - swap it for a new one.

Upgrade the whole tower, should be able to get one built to your specs with the latest/fastest everything for less than £400.00

Actually that sounds like the BAck Orriface Trojan. Do you have up to date virus software?

The tower has been upgraded,the system has not been used on the internet,I use it for music production,gaming and storage.Even though it is getting on a bit it is mega fast,the only glitch being this cdrom problem,I'll fit a new drive.

nah, it's packard bell... i needed one quick and it was cheap in curry's!

i don't understand computer specs anymore... used to be so easy... but they just seem to stick a list of numbers on the end

this one's intel dual core then some numbers....
the keys are set out slightly different, dunno if it's the spacing or what, but with my numbskull and dyslexic eyes it's hard to type on!!

screen is nice and clear though!!

If it's anything like the 'pajero pc' (heap of $$$$) I got here wait til it's warm and the SOAB shuts down as you burn a DVD

Wait for it to pop it's clogs, the worst example of a 2.4 has far better cooling than this heap !

It's got a poxy little fan and uses a metal strip to conduct the heat away - yeah right !
