Hi all, Thinking of going camping in France this year. Not been before so if anyone has been we would appreciate any recommended sites, pref near the beech. It must be a site were we can take our own tent.

This is a great campsite with lots to do, but about 40 mins from the nearest beach. We have been here 4 times and would certainly go back again.

I guess it depends on what you want, the sites I've been to have been off the beaten track, in rural and coastal France, and tend to have mostley French people, and only a small shop and/or bar.
If you need anything else you would have to drive into the nearest town/vllage, which could be 5 miles away.

One of these was near Lacano Ocean in western France (about 50 miles west of Bordeux), good for surfing etc. and good night life in town, and the other was in southern central France ( betwen Bordeux and the Alps) in the middle of a pine forrest and run by a very nice Dutch couple. The only facilities was toilets and showers, and small bar and returaunt. The nearest shop was a 20 mimute drive away. I liked it.

No it's mostley English people who live there now, the French can't afford it.

How far do you want to go?

Speedferry is cheap for a holiday crossing. Dover to Bolougne.
Lots of places to visit along the west coast.
Rouen is good for fashion shopping
D-day landing beaches well worth a visit.
I would recommend motorways for speed but at a price (tolls)
A roads are better as you will see more smaller towns.
7 of us went two years ago 4 adults and three kids.

Supermarket fuel cheaper than the uk (a little) they do have chip and pin in the kiosks but the passinger will have to do the business with the card.
No tax on using veg oil I think.

Think we still have some site info if you feel that this is the area you want to go.
