  • Now this WAS a never ending money pit

    Just to prove that:
    1. that there can be larger money pits than a Surf,
    2. that I can wield a set of spanners
    3. been off-road (in the UK as well as overseas)
    4. and to cheer up M35A2,

I thought I’d share some photos:

This is my Series IIA after being rebuilt (2004/5)

This is how it looked before I started to strip it down

The chassis split while off roading

It was much worse than I thought (front dumb iron)

    Replacement chassis all painted up

    New Re-con Engine, Gearbox

    Raised suspension, bodywork back on

    The finished truck

    A spot of green-laning

This took me about a year to rebuild and at least 3k. Lots of new or recon parts, LPG system lots of extras, some home made items (roof light bar) and plenty of hard work and frustration at times. ….and I finally sold it with a Sankey trailer for £1000.

And NO I wouldn’t want to own, or do that amount of work on an old LR ever again!!!

It's nice to know I'm in your thoughts!!!

That was a nice Series 2A. Pitty you sold it. £1000????? They are going for quite a bit now. Even my Series 3 is worth £700 and that's been stored for 8 years with no tax or mot..

But you have to admit, it's was a damn site easier rebuilding that than what it would have been rebuilding a Surf.
