Not on the Surf but on our citroen Dispatch van. Its diesel but won't switch off with the ignition. What switches a diesel engine off? Is there a selenoid or something.

Should have a solinoid on top of the diesel pump . Give it a knock with a hammer (lightly) and it could unstick the valve inside . Failing that once you have stalled the engine remove the solinoid and check its not stuck .

Methinks this is the same engine wots in the berlingo and other orrible french type vans, if so there is a anti dzl switch on the front of the engine, to stop pull the plug. You have a problem 'cos power to this switch should die with ignition off, loadsa luck, your gonna need it.
