  • petrol mower service

Hi folks - off topic - but I'm scratching my head with this one.
Just bought a second hand petrol mower for my newly landscaped garden.
It hasn't ran for three years and i think it needs a bit of a service - only I can't find any literature / owners manual.
    It's a Mountfield laser omega 46 ???
I've never serviced one before so don't know what's to do!
Any pointers? any help greatly appreciated.
    cheers
    Ali

              Haynes do a lawnmower manual:

              http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...atalogId=10001

It doesn't say they specifically cover your model, but it covers so many different mowers with different engines it's obviously all pretty generic.

Just chuck a load of easystart in it and pull the string.....

If its a Briggs and stratton engine, it will cope with just about any (mineral) oil.. most mower places sell b&s own brand oil which isn't dear...

Straight 20w or 30w is the usual for lawnmowers. You can get it at your local B&Q or Garden centre.

Thanks for all your help guys -saves me a fortune - just rang local recommended repair centre - wants £47 + parts +vat. - I know it needs a new clutch cable (bike brake cable will suffice - same size) and some nuts are missing from handle.
Still...can't do much yet with my knee the way it is....

will be out of action till a least first couple of cuts!!!

The surgeon called it tendon decompression - I call it fcuking agony!!!

I feel so dependant on others and can't do much for myself .... but on the downside - I can't drive my surf!!!!!
