Sounds reasonable to me, I'd be pretty pi$$ed if you had genuine Toyota alloys nicked, and the insurance said 'we can get rusty 8 spokes steels for £40 complete with dodgy tyres on ebay'

Better they say, look Toyota want £blaa, for replacing them, this will right your car off, how about we get these at £blaa so you get to keep the car.

To be honest with the excess he is paying, I wouldn't have bothered telling them, I just sold 4 Toyota alloys and 6 31" BFG's to someone for £120.

Then help the poor bloke out, can't you see he's got no wheels. He don't need brand shiney new ones out the box, just the same as he had and at about 1/4 the cost. I know these personell are only paid to do their jobs, but i would be more than flexible or even a little helpful if i were in insurance. Thats probably why i'm not hehe. Sorry about the rant but i've had my fill of insurance (legal scam) of late and just venting off a little. AAAHHHHHHHH thats better.....

Well if anyone buys rusty 8 spokes for £40 each on ebay..... theres plenty to choose from and not bad prices either, im sure you dont have £2400 worth of boots on yours do you? Maybe when they were new, but theyre not

Like I said , cost up the claim for genuine Toyota rims and nuts and some black circles , then see wot deal could be agreed on to best settle the claim with alternative parts or a CIL (cash in lieu settlement) . Thats how I would do it , but not all have the same approach to it .

no.mind you i only got a spare from jotto at xmas and that was over a year since i had the tyres so it was a good job i never had a puncture

As for my tyres, look up how much 4 off 35x16/15 TSL Boggers and 12x15" Rims cost. Probably £1.5k at least, maybe more.

i think the spare 36x12.5/15 (i think) TSL that dave bought was £300 on it's own

I'd forget the claim & source some myself its less hastle. Don't forget to get some locking wheel nuts as these prats will come back.

yep no wheels and just went flying though mot on tuesday no faults! insurance quote is 2400.00GBP for new wheels and new tyres they even took the old wheel nuts at 6 quid each. so tommorrow insurance engineer is going to make a cash offer to me because value of vehicle is so close to cost of replacing wheels so there you go! lets see what friday brings on

Realy sorry to here about the theft mate. I also live in Northampton what part are you in. A gravel drive and a nasty couple of German sheapheards works for me i have lost so much kit thanks to the p1keys.
