  • Expensive but I’m happy!

Well you will be pleased to know that I have my Surf back!!

She is now running silky smooth and it’s hard to tell the engine is running on tick-over. All the gauges are giving the correct readings.

The final bill came to £1,073 and this included:

    £386 on parts
    £527 labour
    £160 VAT

Gasket set was £160, heads skimmed £30 per side and £60 for a new Top Guide Wheel and various other parts.

I spoke to the mechanic who did the work and he told me the heads were a bit warped…. and he could see where the gasket had blown.
I asked about the oil leak I’d had (from rocker cover I think) and he said it has had all new gaskets so should be fine.

I think I made the right choice in getting her fixed….. hopefully she’ll be good for a few more years yet.

Thanks everyone for your support over the last couple of weeks
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

Great news, but £1073. is not that expensive for what you have had done. Just think how long it will keep going for now..
