The only thing I can see that might cause a problem for mounting is he control box mounted on the op like that. Still depends where you are going to mount it, just think if its going behind a bumper it will be to tall like this.

I have no idea about the winch, just curious about your avatar!

BTW - winches normally come way down wish list of mods - so what you done to your truck so far?

Would an 8000lb winch be strong enough to use with the Surf?

Why have they superimposed the stickers over the left hand side of the unit on that Ebay pic?

Its adaquate, generally get the biggest you can afford. If you're going to be using it alot (2-3 times a month), avoid the cheaper ones and get a Warn, Superwinch, etc. If its for peice of mind or posing the cheap ones are fine.

They are 1/2 the price for a reason.

Got the option to buy an 8000lb Champion G8000-S which I may go for, as I'm hoping to get my offroad training day done soon, so I'd like to have one that I can use and be shown how to use it too....

It'll be fine, I had a little 4,500lb Superwinch for years on the pickup, it didn't let me down, you can double up the line with a pully block to double the pulling power, at the expense of line speed.
