At last a pro-4x4 article. That guy talks a lot of sense- I certainly used mine to rescue a few 2WD cars during the cold snap and recent floods.

He recommends the Xtrail and to be honest it is a very capable car. I remember one test where it was compared against a Rav 4 and the Nissan won hounds down. I have owned mine for about three years now and it has never let me down. I know that we are all biased towards the Surf, and overall out of my three 4x4's, the other being a Frontera Sport, the Surf is my favourite but lets not forget that Nissan make some very capable vehicles: Patrol, Murano (what the Cayenne should have looked like) and the Pathfinder.

        He`s very landrover orientated.

Must say though, even though their domestic orientated vehicles are naff'ish, the proper series type L.R's are capable beasts.

We had a defender when i was on the farm,(who did`nt back then), no doubt you can certainly abuse them.

We had a mad Fresian bull that escaped into the hills once, so we gave chase with the LR, using it as a defflector with the bull trying to get it back to base.

Both front wings got torn(with the Horns), and the bull bar was stoved in where we were running into him, but the LR certainly earned it`s keep that day.I have`nt yet met anyone else whose hit a bull with a bullbar!!
